The UK’s biggest retailer and the wildlife conservation charity RSPB have launched “Together for Trees”, an initiative to increase awareness of the need to save tropical rainforests while raising funds for local projects.

We call this “end of pipe” work, since it does nothing to change Tesco’s business and supply change, but rather – at the very end – sprinkles a few philanthropic millions into an NGO that is paid off for reputation management. Cheaper than any PR firm.

What is Tesco actually doing to sell rainforest protecting products? They point out that an area the size of a football pitch disappears every four seconds in the rainforest. But are they selling rainforest certified meat? Are they stocking rainforest-restoring chocolate?

We think  he is not only one of the best chocolatiers in the world, Damina Allsop is constantly pushing the boundaries of chocolate convention. He has invented water-based ganaches, which offer a flavour development as clear and fragrant as you can get it. He designs chocolates with change flavours as you melt them on your tongue.

Now he is on to redefining the Easter Egg. Using Original Beans Cru Virunga 70%, this is a complex chocolate structure of egg inside egg. Available at Liberty’s and Kings Fine Foods for a limited edition and time. Get it now.

Vier Schokoladen, vier Weine.
