The flavor of the bar is most heavily influenced by what happens at the forest level. It is determined by the health of the trees; and the farmers’ skills in pruning, harvesting, fermenting and drying the beans. Each regional chocolate, like a fine wine, is a reflection of the local “terroir”. You can taste the flavor of the soil, the neighboring trees, and the aromas in the air. Please visit our blog where you can learn about the regions where we source our beans.
While we focus on forest-level development, we also collaborate among all of our suppliers and contractors to constantly improve our environmental efficiency. Original Beans wants to offer a fully natural product from start to finish.
For example, we have done an energy-use assessment of all of our production partners in order to offset our carbon consumption. Our packaging is manufactured in a 100% wind-powered plant. Our boxes are made from 100% recyclable, FSC-certified papers. Now, we are in the process of trying to find a more sustainable foil that is 100% biodegradable while perfectly preserving the richness of Original Beans flavors. We invite you to share your input with us, as to new, greener ideas that will improve our operations newideas@originalbeans.com.
